How To Change Ceiling Fan Direction
The most common way to change the direction of an overhead fan is by turning the blades around. This will reverse the flow of air through the fan. If you have a ceiling fan that has a switch then that is easier, however to do it manually it's different.
Here's how to do it.
If you want to turn the blades around, first remove them from the ceiling. Then, flip the fan upside down so the blades face downward. Next, rotate the fan until the blades point toward the wall. Finally, replace the blades back into place.
Turn off the power switch.
You can also use a remote control to adjust the direction of the blades. This method works well when there is no electrical outlet nearby. If you want to adjust the direction of your ceiling fan blades, you can use a remote control. The remote controls usually come with the fan itself, but if yours doesn't, you can buy one at most hardware stores.
On the other hand, to do it manually...
If you want to turn off the power switch, you can either unplug the fan from the wall socket or remove the cover plate from the back of the unit.
Remove the blades from the motor.
If you remove the blades from the motor, you will need to reattach them at a different angle. It’s important to make sure that the blades are aligned with the direction of the wind before attaching them back into place. The easiest way to adjust the direction of the fan is to remove the blades from the fan motor.
Rotate the fan housing until the desired direction is facing up.
Once the fan has been rotated, attach the blades by screwing them into the fan housing. You should use an electric drill to tighten the screws. Once the blades are removed, turn the fan upside down and look at the blades. You should see two holes near the center of each blade. These holes allow air to flow through the blades. To change the direction of the fan, simply rotate the blades until the holes line up with the direction of the breeze.
Replace the blades.
If the fan blades need replacing, remove the old ones first. Then, take out the fan motor and inspect the blades. If any of the blades are cracked or bent, replace them with new ones. The next step is to put the fan back together. First, reattach the wires from the switch to the fan motor. Next, attach the fan blade brackets to the fan motor. Finally, screw the fan blades into place.
